Loosing Weight Doesn’t Need to Be a Struggle

Loosing weight doesn’t need to be a struggle, if you keep it simple you can get steady results.

How I’ve lost five lbs and a pant size in under 4 weeks, with way less effort then ever before.

If you read my #MeToo story on Huffington Post you know why I chose to stop dating three years ago and add a few layers between myself and men. And it worked.

I became invisible, to them and myself.

It was on my vacation back east with the kids this past fall, that I knew the time had come to stop hiding in photos. Stop fearing someone would take an awful picture of me at an event, stop fearing making videos or being asked to do TV.

It was time to stop dreading getting dressed every day. I’ve struggled with my weight all my life… I’ve been small and felt great, and been large and wanted to hide. And I’m grown enough to know that my BEST SELF is one that looks and feels her best. One that’s healthy, active and not winded when playing with my kids.

So, when Jan 1st rolled around this year, I made a different promise than I’ve ever made before.

I didn’t say: “I’m gonna workout 6 days a week, and stop eating carbs and lose 40 lbs.” That resolution had never worked in the past, it was time for a new approach.

This time I said: “I promise to be active 20 minutes EVERYDAY.

That’s it.

No guilt and self loathing if I skipped the gym, or eat pasta, or didn’t start dropping weight right away. This time I only needed to keep this simple promise, which can be as simple as walking the dog. This means that on days when I don’t feel like working out I can instead play basketball with my kids for 20 minutes. And on days when I feel great and do an hour at they gym I feel extra great because I’ve done over and above.

I didn’t even set a weightless goal, because this time my goal is NOT to lose weight. My goal is to be active for 20 minutes every day. I want to FEEL better. I want energy. I want to sleep better. I want to be healthy.

I knew that if I took this new approach that the positive side effects would be I’d probably eventually lose weight, but if I didn’t right away it wouldn’t deter me, since that wasn’t my goal.

I also knew that once I started feeling better, eating better follows naturally. And I went back to basics using my positive mottos to rebuild my faith in myself.

It’s been almost four weeks and I’ve kept my promise to myself every day. (Follow my IG to watch my daily progress). I feel 100xs better. I have energy and a clear head. And best of all I know this time the transformation is for ME which means it can’t be stopped or destroyed by any external forces.

If you have a dream to be someone different, set a realistic daily goal, one you can keep. Then focus on why you’re doing it, and keep your promises to yourself the same way you want other people to keep their promises to you.
