Five Tips To Make A Powerful Difference In the World

*Guest author post. Written by Lisa Powell Graham.

Like many little girls, my childhood dream was to be the first female president! I also wanted to be a writer and dancer, both of which I’ve accomplished. And although I’ve not become president, I’ve had the honor to work on the campaign of the women who won the popular election for President. As part of living my dreams, I also have dedicated myself to making a difference for others. I want my legacy in the world to be a legacy of love. The issues I care most about include fighting for women’s rights, and helping to ensure that girls globally receive a quality education. One of my biggest missions on earth is empowering women.

I have used the principles of #HustleBelieveReceive to live my dreams and to give back to the world! And I know if I can do it, you can too! In fact, I have lived so many of my “bucket list” dreams already despite having overcome huge challenges, including being stalked by a psychopath who was an ex-convict, and being drugged and raped. I have overcome the depression, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and panic attacks that were a result of being a victim of sexual trauma and assault.

A Letter to My Daughters on Turning Forty

A letter to my daughters on turning forty

My Darling Daughters,

Right now, you are nine-years old (well, almost ten) and your skin is porcelain, smooth and glowing. In summer, it turns this fantastic shade of deep golden brown, when it’s been kissed by the sun (even when I’ve coated it in layers of SPF 50). Your hair is ten gorgeous shades of blond, from crisp white, to soft brown, resulting in a natural highlight job most of us would kill for. Your eyebrows are thick and overgrown, your eyes clear and bright.

You are truly perfect.

A letter to my daughters on turning forty

My beautiful girls

So, I thought I’d let you know what’s looming in your future, say in about thirty years. Now this isn’t to depress you, or scare you, it’s just all the things I wish someone had told me when I hit forty. Sure, I’d heard “it’s all downhill once you hit forty.” But no one ever expanded on what exactly would be sliding down that hill. And besides, I was like you are, I always believed that it would NEVER happen to me. I’d be the one exception in history that would never be damaged by age. Yes, I know you think that too, and you’ll keep thinking it through your thirties, as you should. But than one day you might wake up and say; “hold the fuck on… wasn’t my eyebrow ABOVE my eyelid?” Read more ›

Elisha Alcantara’s Inspiring Personal Journey to Success

Elisha Alcantara's Inspiring Journey to SuccessElisha Alcantara and I met over coffee on a rare sunny Sunday afternoon in March. In a matter of minutes, we were sharing our stories and chatting excitedly as if we’d known each other for years. I knew immediately that she was my kinda chick. She hustled to make her dreams a reality, and it was clear we shared a similar mindset.

I asked Elisha if she’d share her story with you, in hopes that it might inspire you to live your dream, regardless of any obstacles you might face along the way.

“My work ethic is the reason I am here right now.” Elisha began when I asked her how she’d been able to achieve so much in such a short period of time. “I’ve always said that it doesn’t matter if I work at McDonald’s or ran my own company, I would give it everything I had. I’ve always worked very hard, making the most of any opportunity.

Dominic Graves A Superhero Kid

A few weeks ago, I received this message through my website, and it stopped me immediately in my tracks. I’ve received thousands of messages over the years, but never from a fifth grader. (see screenshot below)

The timing couldn’t have been better, as I’ve recently been thinking of how to adapt Hustle Believe Receive for a child audience, so I knew instantly that I needed to chat with this special young man and hear his story. I had to know how this young man had become a comic book author at such a young age and started kidzstuff.org with his brothers.

“I’m ten years old, and I’m from Virginia.” Dominic Graves began when I called for our interview. It was impossible not to be charmed by his kind, child voice and polite manners.

“So how did you become a comic book author?” I asked him, still amazed by what he’s accomplished.

Empowered Ladies Social

Two weeks ago to the day, I sat at the Oregon Convention Center listening to old white dudes tell me how to get rich overnight by handing over my credit card, and they called it a “self-help” seminar. I looked around the room and had a realization, it was time to get off my ass and create a REAL event. One I’d actually want to go to!

Because the day was so agonizing I had a lot of time to think, and I began imagining what my events would be like. The one thing that became crystal clear, was that I’d never sell anything at my events, and that I’d stay authentic to WHO I am. I realized that these cookie-cutter events are just not for me. Instead, I thought about creating the type of evening  I’d want to; grab my girlfriends, put on some heels, maybe even some eyelashes, a notebook and prepare for a truly inspired evening.

But how?

I thought on this for several days, as messages began pouring in from people who’d read my Tony Robbin’s “review.” Instead of being burned at the stake for speaking my truth about that experience, people where supporting me. Asking when I was going to create an event they could attend. It was time to take action.

And so #HBRSocial was born.

Self-Help Revolution Needed

It’s time for a self-help revolution. For real.

On Thursday I attended the #TonyRobbinsTour in Portland (read my review here) and was honestly appalled. Since speaking out about my experience, I’ve received nearly 200 comments/emails and messages from people who’ve had a similar experience. Not ONE hate message (which honestly shocked me!).

So this is what I learned, and why I believe the Universe pushed me to endure twelve hours of that nonsense.

1. Self-help needs a serious shake-up! We are hungry for something REAL and authentic, and it is definitely NOT at these money-making, scam events. At least not for many of us.

Tony Robbins Tour Scam

Tony Robbins Tour Scam

Tony Robbins Tour, why you should save your money and skip this marketing scam!

I’ve been pretty excited the past week or so, in anticipation of seeing the king of life coaching, LIVE and in person. I’ve watched him on Oprah, and known of him for longer then I’ve been in the self-help game. I haven’t read his books, but watched enough of him on TV that I felt fairly sure of what to expect at todays National Achievers Congress, aka #TonyRobbinsTour.

Boy was I wrong.

The company that puts on this event, Success Resources America claims to have done this for 18 years. How is that possible? After the shitshow I lived through today, I find it hard to believe that this company is still in business let alone putting on events that people PAY to attend.  Read more ›

Vision Board Success Story

Vision Board Success Story

Have you ever made a vision board? Or been to a vision board party? If not it’s time for a little Bubbles and Dreams! Grab the champs cuz I’m gonna tell you a pretty awesome success story that will make you want to finally make a board that works!

For years, I’ve been coaching people around the world on how to make a #FutureBoard (my version of a vision board), and it’s been so incredible to watch their lives change. However, I’ve done most of this coaching virtually (for the most part), so I hadn’t gotten the opportunity to see my clients make their board in person. But recently I’ve been giving live classes and it’s been such a joy to have that personal interaction with people as they start to piece together their future lives.

Oh did I mention that these boards we create, actually WORK!? Welp they do… and here’s just ONE recent example. Read more ›
